Lesson 01 ~ Welcome

Welcome to SUNDRI

We're so glad you're here. This is the beginning of something we think you're going to love.

Meet Caroline & Ellyot

We started SUNDRI because we believe the art of handwork deserves a place in modern homes. Not as a nostalgic throwback -- as a genuine antidote to the pace of modern life.

We've helped thousands of complete beginners pick up needles for the very first time and make something real. Something beautiful. Something they wear.

This free experience is our way of introducing you to knitting the way we'd introduce a friend -- warmly, honestly, and without any assumed knowledge.

What you'll discover in this experience

  • Why knitting is making such a comeback -- and why now is the perfect time to start
  • The truth about what stops most beginners (it's not what you think)
  • Exactly what tools and yarn you need -- and nothing more
  • Your very first stitches -- the long tail cast on, joining in the round & beginning to knit
  • Where to go from here, if you decide you'd like to continue

Work through these lessons at your own pace. There's no rush, no deadline, no pressure. Just you, some wool, and the beginning of something lovely.

Lesson 02 ~ Why Knitting

Why Knitting -- & Why Now

Something is shifting. Women everywhere are putting down their phones and picking up their needles. Here's why.

Why so many women are coming back to handwork

We live in a world that's full of consuming -- scrolling, watching, buying. Knitting is one of the few things that asks you to make instead. And there's something deeply satisfying about that.

It slows you down. It gives your hands something to do while your mind rests. And it produces something real -- something you made -- which feels surprisingly, deeply good.

What knitting has brought into our lives

For Caroline, knitting became a way of finding stillness in a busy life -- the ten minutes before the kids wake up, the slow Sunday afternoon, the quiet after everyone's in bed.

For Ellyot, it was about reconnecting with something handmade. About slowing down the pace of modern life and remembering that good things take time -- and that's a beautiful thing.

What it might bring into yours

  • A reason to put your phone down at the end of the day
  • Something slow and intentional to fill the pockets of quiet in your life
  • The satisfaction of wearing something you made yourself
  • A skill to share with your children and pass down
  • A community of women who knit, support each other, and celebrate every finished stitch
Lesson 03 ~ The Myths

What's Really Stopping You

Most beginners think they can't knit because of something they believe about themselves. Let's look at that.

The myths we need to bust

Before we get into the practical stuff, we want to address the things we hear most often from beginners -- because chances are, at least one of these is sitting in the back of your mind.

  • It's only for grandmas -- Knitting is one of the fastest growing crafts among women in their 20s, 30s and 40s. The community is young, warm and very much alive.
  • It takes years to learn -- You can cast on and knit your first stitches today. Within weeks, you can finish your first real project.
  • You need to be naturally crafty -- Knitting is a skill, not a talent. It's learned, not inherited. If you can follow a step-by-step process, you can knit.
  • It's too time consuming -- Ten minutes here. Twenty minutes there. Knitting fits into the pockets of your day, not the other way around.
  • Patterns are impossible to read -- We teach you to understand them from scratch. No assumed knowledge. No confusing abbreviations left unexplained.

Why beginners struggle -- and why it's not their fault

Traditional knitting instruction assumes you already know things. Patterns skip steps. YouTube videos assume prior knowledge. And when you get stuck, there's no one there to help.

That's not you failing. That's the teaching failing you.

SUNDRI is built differently. Every stitch is demonstrated. Every step is explained. And our community is there every time you get stuck.

Lesson 04 ~ Your Roadmap

Your Beginner Roadmap

What does learning to knit actually look like? Here's the honest, simple answer.

You don't need to know everything today

One of the most overwhelming things about knitting is how much there seems to be to learn. Needle types. Yarn weights. Casting on, casting off, increasing, decreasing, reading patterns...

Here's the truth -- you don't need any of that yet. You just need the next step.

The stages of learning

  • Stage 1 -- First stitches ~ Cast on, knit in the round, complete your first rows. This is where you are right now.
  • Stage 2 -- First project ~ A simple beginner pattern. Something you can wear or gift. Confidence building, stitch by stitch.
  • Stage 3 -- First garment ~ A beanie, a crop, a jumper. Something that feels real. Something that makes you say "I made this."
  • Stage 4 -- Your knitting life ~ You're someone who knits now. It's part of how you spend your time, how you slow down, how you make things.

What your journey could look like

Most of our beginners complete their first project within a few weeks. Many go on to finish a garment within their first few months. And almost all of them tell us the same thing -- they wish they'd started sooner.

You're already at Stage 1. The next lesson gives you your very first stitches.

The Long Tail Cast On

Your very first skill. This is how every knitting project begins.

Long Tail Cast On ~ Add video URL to activate

The long tail cast on is the foundation of almost everything you'll ever knit. Take your time with this one. Watch it more than once. Practice until it feels familiar.

Tip: Don't worry if your tension isn't perfect yet. That comes with time. For now, just focus on the movement.

Joining in the Round

This is the technique that opens up a whole world of seamless knitting.

Once you can join in the round, you can knit beanies, crops, jumpers -- almost everything SUNDRI teaches. This is a big moment.

Tip: Go slowly the first time. Make sure your stitches aren't twisted before you join.

Lesson 06 ~ What's Next

Where to Go From Here

You've done something today that most people never do -- you started. Now let's talk about what comes next.

You've just learned to knit

You can cast on. You can join in the round. You can knit your first stitches. That is not nothing -- that is everything. That's the foundation of every single thing we teach at SUNDRI.

Most people who say "I always wanted to learn to knit" never get to where you are right now. You did.

What comes next

If you loved this -- and we hope you did -- the natural next step is our Beginner Jumper Course. It's where we take everything you've just learned and use it to knit your first actual garment, from cast on to cast off.

No experience beyond what you have right now is needed. We designed it specifically for women who have just done exactly what you've done.
