ECO-WOOL — LOCALLY GROWN, NATURALLY SPUN & KIND TO THE EARTH

Golden Fleece Australian Eco-Wool is a truly local yarn - grown, spun and dyed on Australian soil with deep care for the land, the animals, and the artisans who bring it to life.

Sourced from non-mulesed sheep on Australian farms, each skein begins as fibre that’s thoughtfully cared for from the very start. After shearing, the wool is washed with eco-friendly detergents, then spun and dyed in small regional mills using traditional methods that support local makers and rural communities.

Unlike many modern yarns, Golden Fleece is non-superwash — no chlorine treatments, no polymer coatings, no harsh altering of the fibre. The result is a soft, honest wool that feels grounding in the hands and beautiful on the needles. Naturally grippy and easy to hold, it’s especially lovely for kids’ first knitting projects and finger-knitting, as well as garments, accessories, weaving and slow craft of all kinds.

This beautiful hand-dyed wool is spun from 100% Corriedale and created in small batches by artisan dyers through a Fair Trade cooperative in Uruguay. Naturally soft, strong and full of character, its smooth, rounded structure gives each stitch lovely definition and lets even simple textures really shine.

As a 12ply/ Aran weight yarn, it knits up quickly into warm, durable pieces with that grounded, natural feel we love. We’re so proud to stock this yarn and share the story and hands behind each skein.
