The Embrace Vest was one of the first pieces we dreamt up for SUNDRI ~ something you could knit by hand, even in the small pockets of motherhood. A slow-made treasure that grows with your little one through the seasons.
Designed with simplicity and comfort in mind, this vest is worked from the bottom up, then split at the armholes to shape the front and back. Ribbing at the hem, neckline and armholes gives a neat finish. Slightly oversized for a relaxed fit ~ the perfect layering piece for cooler days.

- Needles6mm circular for ribbing ~ 8mm circular for the body (80cm) - This will work for all sizes but using magic loop method for the smaller sizes and for neckline and armholes.
- Yarn14ply Bulky / Chunky weight
- Gauge13 stitches × 18 rows = 10cm in stockinette stitch

After knitting a scarf and some dishcloths, this was the first proper knitting project I'd done. I'm so excited to have made an actual piece of clothing that my daughter can wear! The pattern was achievable for a beginner knitter and the customer service was excellent. I'm already planning my next project.
Vest is so cute! So satisfying to knit something for my kids they can wear, and turned out great. I've knitted before but simpler things like scarves + beanies. This was my first time knitting proper clothing. Pattern was clear, however struggled with my magic loop. Ended up doing the Beam beanie first for some personal encouragement/success before trying harder item. Also ended up buying Sundri's circular needles and they were so much better - the plastic loop connection was more pliable/flexible and so magic loop worked better! Unfortunately the online course wasn't available, so just used the pattern & any steps I didn't understand, Youtube was my friend to watch videos/examples. That worked well! Would recommend. Absolutely loved this children’s knitted vest pattern! The instructions were so clear, well written, and easy to follow from start to finish, which made the whole project really enjoyable.

Such a great vest for kids! Perfect to layer in the cooler months or over a tshirt on warm days. I have now knitted 4 and the kids love them. The pattern is easy to follow and knits up quickly.

I am an experienced knitter but have been making these non stop. Having so much fun with the colours and sizing for my own kids. Just want this in adult size!
I’ve been also doing this with a friend who is learning to knit and it’s been really achievable. Alongside some YouTube videos to learn the basic skills it knits up quickly. I was not sure about the pky size, I would recommend a more 14 or 16ply. I have a loose tension. I’ve been using the Abbey Road yarn from spotlight which comes in lots of different colours. I’ve been feeling inspired! Thanks 🙏🏽

I’m new to knitting and thought I’d take a leap and try the Embrace Vest pattern. It didn’t disappoint! I had so much fun and it was the right amount of challenge for a beginner. I loved how easy the pattern was to follow and I appreciated all the photos for each step! I’m so pleased with myself and I can’t wait to make more in different sizes for my kids!! I’m so excited to make it, but as a NEW beginner, it’s really so hard to follow. Much youtube supplementation required, so I wish there was a supplementary beginners pdf to explain how you do it, or a supplementary video. Still hopeful 🥰.
