ABOUT US

SUNDRI is rooted in knitting and handwork, slow making, natural fibres, and the quiet power of creating with your hands.

We have a simple belief:
we begin with ourselves ~ and the learning ripples outward.

We don’t teach children first.
We learn, we make, we sit in the rhythm of it and through witnessing, our children learn too.
This is how handwork once lived in homes. And this is what we are gently bringing back.

SUNDRI was co-founded by Caroline and Ellyot ~ two creatives living on the east coast of Australia, raising and homeschooling six daughters between them. What began as a shared love of natural and up-cycled fibres, heirloom techniques, vintage treasures, and slow living has evolved into a living, breathing practice of knitting, handwork, clothing, and art ~ guided by motherhood, seasons, intuition, and craft.

In 2023, the first seed was planted with the creation of our children’s hemp clothing ~ a reflection of our love for textiles and our desire for beautiful, affordable, sustainable garments for children. As our lives and rhythms continued to shift, knitting quietly found its way back in.

At first, it was personal.
We adorned our children in our handmade pieces, knitted slowly in the cracks of motherhood, with our girls by our side. Then it became communal. We began sharing these pieces with our wider community ~ garments made from natural fibres, designed to be worn, loved, and passed on.

The response was immediate and heartfelt.
But as demand grew, so did a realisation.

The longing wasn’t just for the finished piece.
It was for the making.

For learning a skill.
For working with quality, natural fibres.
For creating clothing and objects that carry story, intention, and care.

Buying handmade isn’t always accessible ~ but learning to make something with your own hands can be.

So we followed that calling.

SUNDRI slowly shifted from creating for others, to guiding others to create for themselves and in doing so, to naturally pass these skills on to the children in their lives. Today, we offer beginner-friendly knitting courses, patterns, kits, and tools designed to meet you where you are, and to gently support you into handwork with confidence and ease.

As people began knitting alongside us, something subtle but powerful unfolded.

We saw nervous systems soften.
Creative energy return.
Women gathering to make and connect.
Children watching, absorbing, learning ~ not through instruction, but through presence.

Screens put down.
Hands busy.
Creativity woven back into daily rhythm.

In a world that can feel fast, loud, and disconnected, SUNDRI exists to bring the art of slow handwork back into homes ~ not for speed or perfection, but for presence, intention, and the joy of making something with your hands and letting these skills live on...

What began as a love of natural fibres has grown into something much more expansive...

~
We are still growing.
Still weaving.
Still listening ~ to our intuition, to the land, to our children, and to the community walking this path with us.

Thank you for being here as SUNDRI continues to unfurl.
